The Sir Coates Painting Masters

An Independent Painting Competition run by the DRPA

The first public painting competition from the Duncan Rhodes Painting Academy, hosted by the London Grand Tournament. The competition will be judged by Duncan Rhodes who will judge each submission on creativity and narrative along with painting skill. It welcomes all types of miniatures from all game systems and beyond.

Categories:
Single Miniature: This category is for any single human-sized miniature, mounted on an appropriately sized base. This includes everything from solitary troopers to majestic, genetically enhanced commanders. This includes miniatures mounted on smaller vehicles and creatures like bikes, jet bikes, and beasts or mounts.

Squad/Unit: This category is for squads or units of three or more miniatures. The unit may be displayed on an appropriately sized base. This includes miniatures on foot and miniatures mounted on bikes, jet bikes, and beasts, provided they are organised into a unit of three or more models.

Vehicle: This category is for any single vehicle. This includes tanks, walkers, and flyers – everything from historically accurate machinery to strange and wonderful sci-fi and alien Tanks or craft. Models entered into this category, that for any reason do not require a base, may still be mounted on an appropriately sized base.

Monster: This category is for any single large than human sized miniature, mounted on an appropriately sized base. This is the category to really go to town with if you enjoy whimsical fantasy creatures or hulking alien monstrosities!

Entry Fee:
● Cost: £5 per submission

Each Entree has the chance to win a bespoke Sir Coates trophy for first, second, and third respectively and to be crowned GRAND CHAMPION which comes with a huge trophy.

Saturday 28th – Submissions are welcome all day and will be collected at the Sir Coates Painting Masters booth by a member of the DRPA team.
Sunday 29th – Submissions are accepted until 12:00pm. Judging will take place until 3:00 pm ready for the awards ceremony to be announced by Duncan.

About the London Grand Tournament (LGT): The LGT is one of the largest and most esteemed tabletop gaming events in the world, drawing thousands of attendees each year. Known for its competitive tournaments, vibrant community, and diverse range of events, the LGT serves as a great backdrop for the Sir Coates Painting Masters 2024.

FAQ's

Yes, This event is for everybody to enter. There are monthly painting challenges available to members separate from the Sir Coates Masters.

Yes, we will have locked cabinets for display that will safely and securely house all of the entries.

For the DRPA to put on the event we have hired cabinets and designed bespoke trophies. The event entry covers the cost of those and the entry badges which will be given to all participants.

Yes, we will have a card machine available for anybody who would rather purchase a ticket in person on the day.

The deadline is 12:00pm on Sunday 29th September 2024.

Any and all of them! The categories have been specifically chosen to cover any miniature system or miniature range available.

Yes, Duncan and Rog will be on hand as chief judges and will have the final decision in each category.

Absolutely! We will have a locked file for the entry forms that will never be left unattended and after the event, all information will be shredded securely.
